Food banks in Broxtowe will be able to provide more support to local people this winter, thanks to a £13,000 donation from Broxtowe Borough Council, part of its UK Shared Prosperity Funding.
11 food banks and two food clubs across the breadth of the Borough received £1,000 each to support including:
- Brinsley Food Bank, Brinsley
• Eastwood Volunteer Bureau, Eastwood
• Chayah Development Project, Stapleford
• Montrose Court, Stapleford
• Haven Centre, Stapleford
• Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, Stapleford
• St Barnabas Church, Chilwell (food bank and food club)
• Phoenix Community Foundation, Chilwell
• Broxtowe Community Projects, Beeston
• Hope Nottingham, Beeston (food bank and food club)
• Harvest Community Haven, Beeston
Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said: “Food banks are a lifeline for those who need to use them. Local people are very generous in their support and donations to our food banks but we know from speaking to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the banks that later in the winter and the spring are times when this can be more difficult. This donation will help support the invaluable work that food banks across the Borough do.
“The support for food banks is part of a range of ways Broxtowe Borough Council is using its UK Shared Prosperity Funding to help people with the cost of living. We are also running monthly pop-up stalls at local events and the Council is producing a cost-of-living support leaflet to help reach those residents who might not so easily find help in person or online.”
