Plastic Free Cotgrave is a group in Rushcliffe who have formed to share information on how to reduce single use plastics.
Are you frustrated by the amount of packaging that you have to pay for in the supermarket and then struggle to recycle properly? On 23rd November, members of Plastic Free Cotgrave and their friends joined in with an online event to learn more about ‘Zero Waste and How To Do It’, introducing Sarah Davey of ‘The Simpler Life’ in Keyworth.
There are 3 zero waste shops in Rushcliffe: The Bottle Top (Ruddington), The Good Weigh (Lady Bay) and The Simpler Life (Keyworth.)
Because you take your own (sparkly clean) containers to be refilled, you do not have to pay for packaging and you can buy just the quantity that you need or that suits your budget. No more big packets of foodstuffs sitting around in your cupboard losing their freshness!
You may have seen the recent report that people in the UK and the USA produce more plastic waste per person than any other major countries, followed by South Korea and Germany. One of the study Authors, Nick Mallos, said, “The solution has to start at home. We need to create less by cutting out unnecessary single use plastics.”
