20/12/2021 by Digital Media

A pupil from a junior school in Mapperley has helped raised over £750 for a cancer charity.

Seren Sweetman who is in year 3 at Westdale Junior School, which is part of the Nova Education Trust, has been fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer.

The charity helps children, young people and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.

Seren undertook a number of fundraising walks which raised £60 and also supported her mum as part of a bucket collection team at Morrisons, helping raise £701.

“It makes me feel really happy to know that this money will help other children,” Seren said.

Head of School at Westdale Junior School, Rob Slater, said: “We are all so proud of Seren.

“To have shown such maturity and consideration for others is wonderful – and to have helped raise this amount of money will really help to make a difference to lots of people’s lives.

“Well done Seren.”
