A Nottinghamshire youth football team kicked off the new season in style thanks to the support of a local business.
Players from the Pelican Colts Under 12s team, who train at Lenton Lane in the city, are now wearing a brand new kit, sponsored by Nottinghamshire firm, Hardstaff Barriers.
The Pelican Colts is a well-respected team that has played in Nottinghamshire leagues for more than three decades. The soccer school, which can accommodate up to 300 children, is run by volunteer Football Association qualified coaches offering great opportunities for children.
Hardstaff Barriers, which is based in Kingston on Soar, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of roadside safety barriers and perimeter security systems.
The company is part of Hill and Smith Holdings, an international group, which is committed to supporting local communities by delivering economic benefits, partnering with schools, sponsoring local sports clubs and recruiting locally.
James Houghton, under 12’s Coach at Pelican Colts, said; “Having the support of local businesses such as Hardstaff makes such a difference to clubs like Pelican Colts. Despite the dedication of the volunteer coaches that give their time for free, we need resources to ensure the young boys and girls have access to safe and modern equipment.
“Ideally this year, we have found a sponsor in Hardstaff that are all about safety and community, and I know my team are extremely excited to be stepping-out wearing their logo on their awesome new kit.“
Dave Todd, Executive Director of Hardstaff Barriers, said; “It is a real pleasure to support this local football team, which clearly benefits a large number of young people living in our local community.
“Football not only helps our young people to keep physically and mentally fit, but it also teaches them important life skills and encourages leadership and teamwork.
“We are delighted to be able to give something back to the community that we work in. And who knows, some of these keen and dedicated young players may end up becoming Hardstaff employees of the future.”
