Woodborough Celtic Youth FC has received a donation from leading developer David Wilson Homes to help its teams tackle the new season.

The funding will go towards two new goal posts for the club, meaning that more children can play at once. Before the donation, half of the team would have to sit and wait in the sidelines for the other players due to limited equipment.
The club was set up by three local parents from the village when restrictions eased this year. They set the team up for their own children and for their friends to play football together.
Paul Stevenson, Co-Founder and Coach at Woodborough Celtic Youth FC, said: “During the pandemic everything was affected so now this football club has started I think everyone has enjoyed the freedom and socialising that they had missed for such a long time.
“The donation means that we can still give the children everything that they need for playing football and enjoying themselves without asking for financial support from parents who may have been hit financially by the pandemic, which eases the pressure on all the families involved.
“When we found out we had received the funding we knew our sessions would be better and easier to organise, as well as being able to involve more children in the games.
“From all the children, parents and volunteers we want to say a massive thank you to David Wilson Homes.”
Paul also noted how David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund, which sees a local organisation or charity selected to receive funding, is extremely important in helping support local areas and makes a big difference to clubs such as this.
