In September 2003, a group of enterprising individuals created West Bridgford Shopmobility with the aim of helping local people with mobility problems to be able to get around the shops and other attractions in the area.
From humble beginnings in the single storey building in the Bridgford Road car park, and with the help of generous donations from local businesses, WBS is just about to celebrate its 20th birthday!
Still facing the car park, but now in an office in the library complex, our activities have expanded to embrace short-term hire of mobility scooters, wheelchairs and walkers for use on UK holidays, recuperation after hospitalisation, or visits from guests with mobility issues.
Staffed entirely by volunteers, WBS is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10am to 2pm, so if you believe that we can meet your mobility needs, come along and have a chat. Annual membership costs just £20, for which you can use our mobility aids on any day when we’re open. Short-term hire incurs an extra charge, of course, but we’re happy to discuss your requirements.
In the future, we plan to enable members to pay by credit or debit card – although we will continue to accept cash payments, as our demographic is biased towards this sort of transaction.
To contact WB Shopmobility, either call in, phone 0115 981 5451 when we’re open, go online at www.wbshopmobility.co.uk or find us on Facebook
