It’s that time of year again! West Bridgford resident David Carter will be lighting up his home with a fantastic Christmas display to raise money for charity.
For 9 years now, David has been putting on a mesmerizingly festive annual Christmas display outside his home to raise money for charity. This year will be the 6th year in a row that he will be raising money for RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre.
Santa Claus will perform the grand switch on which will take place on Sunday 28th November at 5pm, plus there will be a raffle with excellent prizes.
Plus, this year for the first time there will be Christmas music to accompany the display!
David said, “My display will be raising money for the RSPCA Radcliffe Animal Centre to which I am affiliated. All donations go towards helping to care for all the wonderful animals and will be very much appreciated. The Centre is funded independently and receives no financial aid from the RSPCA National Society.
“Last year despite Covid Restrictions many people visited, and I raised nearly £2000, this year I would like to exceed this amount, especially because of the pandemic our fundraising [at RSPCA Radcliffe] has been hit very hard!”
In previous years, David has had amazing feedback from visitors, he said, “People enjoy the display so much, I get asked constantly ‘are you doing it again this year!’ Even with Covid last year I was not too sure, but the neighbours in particular persuaded me to continue doing it.”
When the Local News asked David why he does the light display, he said, “I love doing it and get very excited, I love to see the children’s faces light up and especially when they point at the different lights. It’s also amazing how the donations come in, some nights you hardly see anyone and the amounts given can really surprise you!”
Donations can be made by popping money into the collection box outside David’s house or you can simply text ‘RSPCALIGHTS 5’ to 70085 to donate £5 or text ‘RSPCA LIGHTS 10’ to 70085 to donate £10.
If you cannot make the grand switch on, don’t worry! As David’s Christmas light display will be on daily from 4pm – 9:30pm until January 2nd.
David’s lights will be at his home at 4 Sandale Close, Gamston, NG2 6QD.
