West Bridgford named in top towns and small cities list

02/08/2023 by Digital Media

West Bridgford has been named as one of the top towns and small cities in the UK in a recent survey, the only town in the East Midlands to have received the accolade.

The list compiled by Savills estate agents highlighted that the vibrant town was ranked 13th in the top 50 places across the country, with its prime location and excellent range of facilities, entertainment, sports and hospitality venues.

Survey data was taken from the most recent census and the Land Registry to create the list based on the socio-economic, educational and health profile of residents living in the area as well as house prices relative to peers in the same region.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Leader Cllr Neil Clarke said: “West Bridgford is a fantastic town with plenty to offer our residents and visitors alike and we’re delighted this is reflected in its high-ranking on Savills top towns and small cities list.

“To be named the only top town or city in the East Midlands in the survey is testament to our commitment to investing in our communities in Rushcliffe wherever we can.

“It is a family-friendly town with brilliant transport links, high performing schools and beautiful parks with tennis courts, skate parks and children’s play areas.

“It’s home to some of the region’s major sporting attractions including Nottingham Forest’s City Ground, international cricket venue Trent Bridge and Nottingham Rugby based in Lady Bay, highlighting its continued reputation as a great place, offering great sport and great lifestyle for residents.

“We’re proud to host a number of free events throughout the year which attracts thousands of residents and visitors.

“Our Taste of Rushcliffe Food Festival took place on Saturday July 15, promoting independent businesses and with a fun-packed programme of cooking demonstrations, masterclasses and children’s educational activities.

“Our Proms in the Park event in June was our most popular to date which saw families and friends come together at Bridgford Park to celebrate Armed Forces Day with free music and entertainment throughout the day.

“West Bridgford is one of the jewels in the crown of Rushcliffe and with our council offices based on Rugby Road in the town, we are proud to call it home.”
