Brookside Primary School in East Leake has received a donation of 35 educational books written by graduates on David Wilson Homes’ ASPIRE Programme.
The book, named ‘We Can Build’, takes readers on the journey of building a house through the various professions in the housebuilding industry.
Aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils, it introduces young learners to the basics of the built environment and will inspire the next generation of Architects, Engineers and Site Managers.
In addition, 100% of the profits of the sale of the books have gone to The Prince’s Trust; a charity that helps connect young people with mentors, career opportunities and provide pathways into inspiring futures.
Gary Kenny, Headteacher at Brookside Primary School, said: “Our children have watched with interest the building of new houses by David Wilson Homes in the village.
“The books that have been donated to the school have given the children a helping insight into the roles involved in building new houses – they may even be able to eye a future career in design, project management or engineering. Thank you to David Wilson Homes for the donation.”
Brookside Primary School is located near the homebuilder’s development The Skylarks off Rempstone Road, and the donation forms a part of David Wilson Homes’ outreach to the local community.
