Wave: A New Monthly Gathering at St Mary’s Church

10/02/2026 by Digital Media

Wave is the new family friendly informal, interactive gathering at St Mary’s church. It was launched on Sunday 18th January and is all about food, fun, friendship and faith.

On the food front there was afternoon tea. People chatted around the toasters while waiting for their crumpets and bagels to pop up. Home made scones and buns were a great hit. Delicious gluten and dairy free options were also available.

Fun and friendship came from taking part in the wide range of activities – building a light circuit, word puzzles, scavenger hunt, reflective colouring, minute to win it challenges, craft and playdough plus Lego and Duplo challenges.

The faith part was a short, lively, interactive time where we considered how Jesus can be light and hope in the bleakness of winter.

People there talked about the great vibe, “it was relaxed and friendly”. For some the highlight was the cardamon buns, for others meeting new people, others building a working light circuit and for some realising how God can be a light in dark times.

The next Wave gathering will be on Sunday 15th February from 4.00pm – 5.30pm. Drop in to find out what we are about. To find out more contact Jo Harrison on [email protected] or 07877 520 347.
