The family of a soldier stationed in Nottingham are celebrating after bagging nearly £5,000-worth of goodies as part of Victoria Centre’s ‘Win a Window’ competition.
Launched in partnership with Gem Radio to celebrate the centre’s 50th birthday, visitors were asked to guess the exact value of a shop window packed with prizes at the popular shopping destination.
After five weeks of guesses, Katie Dunning was the lucky winner, accurately guessing that the contents of the window were worth a combined £4911.33. Katie visited the centre to see what she had won with her children ten year-old Riley five year-old Elsie-May, as well as husband Kane, who is a Staff Sergeant in the Royal Engineers based at Chetwynd Barracks in Chilwell.
Amongst the family’s prizes were a toy hamper from House of Fraser, jewellery from Austen & Blake, a £500 personal styling gift card from John Lewis & Partners, a Nespresso machine, a state of the art bike from Ribble Cycles, a £100 bar tab at Nottingham Street Food Club and two-piece suit from Suit Direct.
Commenting on her win, Katie said:
“I was really shocked to guess the correct amount. We were on our way to Alton Towers and we heard the competition on the radio in the car. It was an amazing start to our trip and there were smiles all round.
“The kids were really excited to see how many toys were in the window and the £500 John Lewis & Partners voucher will come in handy as we really need a new mattress!
“We know it’s Victoria Centre’s 50th birthday but we’re lucky enough to be the ones getting all the presents. Definitely a moment to remember for the family.”
Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, added:
“Big congratulations to Katie, Kane, Riley and Elsie-May. We loved seeing their faces when they visited us and saw all the prizes they won.
“Win a Window is just one of the special events we have lined up for our 50th year. Our birthday is all about celebrating 50-years in the heart of the city and it’s really important to us that we give shoppers like Katie and her family the chance to celebrate with us.
“The Win a Window competition may be over but our interactive Wall of Fame is still in the centre, where you can take a picture at the selfie station and add it to the wall. Over time, our visitors’ selfies will merge together to reveal two giant hidden images. There’s the odd famous face in there too.
“In the coming weeks and months, we will also be making some other big birthday announcements and adding some extra little surprises to make a visit to the centre even more special.”
