2024 marks 200 years of the RNLI; a vital nationwide institution which is dedicated to water safety. Predominantly run by volunteers, the RNLI have presented a number of Long Service medals this year to mark the celebrations.
The West Bridgford Branch was delighted to present a 50 years’ service medal to Enid Thraves, who celebrated her 90th birthday in September. Her award was presented by current committee member, Ann Jordan, in a celebration at Enid’s home.
Enid was a committee member of the local branch from 1974 to 2004, and has supported the fundraising work ever since.
Another long time supporter and volunteer of the West Bridgford branch recognised for her contributions was Maureen Mitchell.
Maureen has been a loyal supporter of the RNLI for 20 years, and was invited to attend a reception at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 23rd May.
Congratulations to both recipients, and thank you for your efforts.
