In 2022 after many years of planning it was decided to replace the old village hall in Barnstone with a new building as the old one was in poor condition and could not safely be refurbished.
The trustees of the village hall along with the hall user groups and the Parish Council agreed that they had raised enough funds to rebuild the hall.
The demolition of the old building commenced at the end of the year and the grounds were cleared in preparation for the rebuild.
A number of people from the local groups and the parish expressed an interest in putting together a time capsule with information about various interest items around Langar and Barnstone.
The information was gathered together and the Rushcliffe Councillors provided the funds to purchase the capsule.
The current mayor of Rushcliffe, Councillor Tina Combellack attended a ceremony on Monday 17th April and placed the capsule into the cavity of the new build and unveiled a plaque. A number of interested groups from the villages and local councillors attended the event.
To complete the fitting out of the building, further funds are needed and a JustGiving page has been set up for people to make donations however small to assist in completing the new hall.
