Bingham Community Arts Committee (BCAC) is delighted to continue its series of chamber music concerts in local venues by staging two events over a single weekend at the beginning of March.
The first of the two concerts will take place in Bingham Parish Church (East Street, Bingham NG13 8DR) on the evening of Saturday 5 March, starting at 7.30pm, with the second running the following afternoon – 3.00pm, Sunday 6 March – in the exquisite private concert hall in Halam Court, near Southwell (Back Lane, Halam, NG22 8AG).
Following the success of their previous appearances in Bingham, BCAC has reunited the trio of Daphne Moody (violin), Steven Halls (cello) and David Halls (piano) to fill the Parish Church with the haunting melodic lines and nostalgic atmosphere of Dvořák’s Piano Trio No. 2 in G minor. For the second half of the Bingham concert, Daphne and Steven will be joined by Chris Harris, John Britten, Phillip Burton and Margaret Chadwick in Souvenir de Florence, Tchaikovsky’s string sextet in D minor, which both explores and exploits the rich sonority created by the combined forces of two violins, two violas and two cellos.
The Halam concert on Sunday 6 March presents another opportunity to hear Daphne, Steven and David’s interpretation of the Dvořák Piano Trio, with the programme continuing through the first set of Miniatures for Piano Trio by Frank Bridge and the première of David Halls’ own Quodlibet on Three Bridge Miniatures. The afternoon also promises a ‘guest appearance’ by organist David Butterworth with a selection of pieces on the magnificent Halam Court organ.
Advance purchase of tickets is recommended, particularly for the Halam event. Tickets are £10 in advance (£12 on the door) for each concert, with free entry for accompanied children: profits will be donated to Nottinghamshire food banks.
