Fish and chip fans living in West Bridgford are in for a treat this Easter as the new The Cods Scallops shop plans to open its doors.
The new site located on Wilford Lane, boasts up to 20 species of fish and seafood on the menu every day, including its award-winning fish and chips, oysters, lobster, crab, salmon, tuna, whelks, cockles, mussels, prawns, sea bass and monkfish, to name just a few. Alongside these fishy friends, The Cods Scallops also sell award-winning home-made pies – the Steak & Scale Ale pie has just been crowned the best chippy pie in the UK in the 2019 British Pie Awards – as well as, salads, fish cakes, fish soup, and 2 Michelin star chef Sat Bains’ Momma Bains range of curry, chutney and samosas. If by some miracle you’re still hungry there’s a huge array of puddings and a soft serve Italian ice cream machine to bring back the nostalgia of British seaside beach days.
The location has also called for some new additions to the menu – gym-goers and health-conscious customers will be able to enjoy a Superfood salad special, kicking off with a grilled sashimi grade tuna with mixed grains, black eyed beans, edamame beans, carrots, onion, fresh herbs and an asian-style dressing – all macro and calorie counted and recommended by a nutritionist. What’s more, show your gym card and eat-in diners can catch 10% off this dish.
The 38-seater restaurant is fully licensed so customers can indulge in a glass of fizz with their lobster or a ‘Scale Ale’ with their cod. As well as an impressive wine list, they also offer an array of cold and hot drinks including their own blend of Outpost coffee.
It’s not just the grown ups who are catered for – the menu also includes a Little Tiddlers Meal Deal which features a drink, main, pudding and bespoke activity pack guaranteed to keep the little ones happy.
Owner John Molnar says: “We’re really excited to be opening in this area as we have been looking for the perfect site for a while. We will be showcasing our usual extensive menu as well as some new dishes and offers so watch this space! The site will be employing 35-40 local new staff which is great news for Nottingham and everyone involved.”
In a similar style to the others, the new shop is an eat in and takeaway restaurant also offering a Click & Collect and delivery service.
