On Sunday 28th September, a previously graffitied utility box in Cator Lane Park was unveiled showing a vibrant celebration of local wildlife, thanks to the creative talents of street artist Soap.
The project, delivered by Beeston and District Civic Society was generously funded by Councillor Helen Faccio (Nottinghamshire County councillor for Toton, Chilwell and Attenborough). It is especially aimed at inspiring children and young people, while making the park a more welcoming place for everyone.
Soap, who recently appeared at Artfest in Nottingham, is known for several local murals. This latest mural features colourful depictions of animals found in the area, turning a problematic area into a source of community pride.
Councillor Helen Faccio said: “I am so pleased that I could help this project go ahead using money from my Councillors’ Divisional Fund. The mural is brilliant and creates a point of interest rather than being an eyesore in a lovely local park. Thank you to the Civic Society and Soap for creating not just some fantastic street art, but something to help foster a sense of pride in our area.”
This project is part of ongoing efforts to improve public spaces and encourage young people to take pride in their local environment. The new mural will not only be a visual treat but also a reminder of the importance of caring for our parks and wildlife.
Residents are encouraged to visit Cator Lane Park to see the mural and enjoy the refreshed space.
