Members from the Keyworth Slimming World group have arranged an Easter Egg collection which was donated to The Grand Residential Care Home.
Michelle Tinlin became the Slimming World Consultant for the Keyworth group at the end of December last year, she said, “Having battled with my own weight for many years I decided to join as a member back in 2016.
December 21st 2020 saw me reach my target weight – I had lost a total of 6.5 stone – albeit I had taken the scenic route!? But I did it! However, I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of my Slimming World family and my amazing consultant.
“I’ve heard it said so many times from past target members that “it changed my life, and gave me more confidence”, but I can honestly say it did – never would I have envisaged myself becoming a consultant… But I did and I’m loving it – being able to support, inspire and share the journey of others is amazing. Helping others to achieve their dream weight, and feel like I do…well, it’s the best feeling in the world!”
Although the Slimming World meetings had become virtual, this didn’t stop Michelle encouraging her members and coming up with positive ideas.
“It was during one of our zoom meetings that I put a suggestion to the members about having an Easter Egg collection for Charity. This way we could continue to lose inches, but others would benefit from a little kindness. The members voted as to where we wanted the eggs to go, and The Grand care home came out on top.
“This is particularly close to the heart of my husband Kevin, daughter Hollie and myself, as Kevin’s mum – Joyce Tinlin – is suffering from vascular dementia and has been a resident there for 3 years now.”
The group collected over 90 Easter eggs which were donated to the Grand Residential Care Home in West Bridgford on March 29.
Michelle continued, “When we delivered the eggs to The Grand, the staff very kindly arranged for Joyce to receive them on behalf of all the other residents. It was very emotional just to share those few precious moments – but there is light at the end of the tunnel, and we know we’ll be able to visit very soon.
“The members were so generous in their donations, as we collected over 90 easter eggs! Its more than a slimming group – it’s a family, a community and I look forward to being part of this family for many years to come.”
Michelle’s husband Kevin said, “I am so proud of Michelle’s personal weight loss achievement, and also the way in which she is so passionate about inspiring others to achieve their own successes. Huge congratulations to all of the members. We were both overwhelmed by your generosity.”
