Sewa Day and Communities Working Together prepare for an Easter ‘Egg’stravaganza

25/03/2021 by Digital Media

Sewa Day Nottingham, in Partnership with Communities Working Together, have been working to surprise 25 community groups across Nottinghamshire this Easter, including groups in Gedling, Rushcliffe, Broxtowe, Ashfield and Bulwell.

All items were very generously donated by 50 local businesses and individual community champions who came forward to support the project, which aims to support charities, schools and food banks across the region with Easter treats.

The work to pack the Easter bags was carried out by 15 volunteers throughout the day. The team packed bags which included 1400 eggs, 300 Easter art and craft kits and grow your own sunflower packs. These bags will be distributed by volunteers over the holiday period.

Local MP Lillian Greenwood tweeted “Incredible work by @sewadaynotts ’ team of volunteers!”.

Ms Greenwood also volunteered on the day to support the packing of bags.

The project was led by Hetvi Parekh, Malti Maini, Rani Korpal and Nisha Korpal.
