Rushcliffe Wildlife Watch

09/12/2019 by Digital Media

We guess you are all getting excited and can’t wait to see what Santa has in store for you. But before Santa pops in, don’t forget that we are having our annual end of year party next Saturday at Rushcliffe Country Park on 14th December. There are a couple of regular activities that you all enjoy, apart from snacking, that is. If the weather is OK, we shall have a wander into the park to see what interesting things there are for you to make your own Christmas decorations and cards.

There are also a fun game of wildlife bingo we will play, if you fancy that. We also want to investigate who in the wildlife world changes their clothes for winter, or who goes away to warmer places instead of braving the cold and wet – and who visits us just for winter.

We guess you are all getting excited and can’t wait to see what Santa has in store for you. Rushcliffe Wildlife Watch invite you next Saturday 14th December to Rushcliffe Country Park. They say there are a couple of regular activities that you all enjoy, apart from snacking, that is.

We will also have some bird food and you can make bird treats if you like. It would be really useful if you can find some decent size pine cones, as these are ideal for making feeders to hang from a tree or a feeding station. Bring anything that you think the group would like to use.

It would also be really useful if you can let us know if you think you can make it, just so we can be sure to get enough nibbles for everyone.

The other thing we would like to hear from you is any feedback you can give us as to what you enjoyed this year and anything special you would like us to include in next year’s session? So far next year, there are some sessions planned, though your input will be very welcome indeed. So here are some dates for your diaries.

Saturday 11th January; – Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. Come and delve into the amazing world of the invertebrates with our friends from ‘Rent a Beast’. Be prepared to be amazed as you are introduced to these wonders. Do they have relations here?

Saturday 8th February; – Re-wilding Britain. What has become extinct in Nottinghamshire? Even lions, rhinos and elephants once lived here, so what amazing creatures would you like to see brought back to life here?

Saturday 7th March; – Creature Comforts. Find out who lives here all year round and who has a penthouse in Africa, or a holiday home in Arctic climes.

Saturday 11th April; – Is our Climate Changing?. Investigate what is happening to the world’s ice caps. What is happening closer to home? What can you do to help the world acclimatise?

Don’t forget to bring your coats, hats, gloves and wellies and be prepared to have some fun.Look forward to seeing you all at the country park on Saturday 14th December at 11:00.

One last thing: If you happen to see a hedgehog, don’t forget to log it on www.bighedgehogmap.org or www.ptes.org
