Love plants and want to help support wildlife on your doorstep? Come to the annual Spring Fair in Ruddington on Saturday morning 16th May.
This popular event is organised by the South Notts group of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust to raise vital funds to support local wildlife.
Thanks to sales of plants, cakes and other items each year, our community is making a real difference locally, explains Gordon Dyne, Chair of the Local Group, and organiser of the Fair:
“Through our fundraising activities over the last few years we’ve been able to help fund crucial wildlife projects on our doorstep.
“This includes purchase of conservation tools such loppers and bowsaws so that our volunteers can keep local reserves in top condition around Rushcliffe and beyond. It’s also helped with projects such as installing viewing screens and tree planting at our Skylarks Nature Reserve, where an increasing number of migrant water birds have been seen.
“We’ve supported our ‘Keeping it Wild’ Group, which is a hugely vibrant youth group who are committed to standing up for Nature. We need young people who are as passionate about wildlife as we are. Our funds help them run an activity programme which inspires young advocates who will want to safeguard local wildlife in the future.
“We were also able to make a donation towards the purchase of the much-loved Attenborough Nature Reserve, helping saving it for future generations as a protected haven for us all to enjoy.
“I’d urge people to come and support the Spring Fair, knowing that they are playing a part in protecting our local wildlife heritage.”
At the Spring Fair there will be a wide range of perennial and annual plants, homemade cakes, and wildlife craft items at the event. Visitors can win prizes at the tombola and enjoy a relaxing drink at the café.

The wildlife craft stall has become famous for fabulous knitted wild woolly creatures and painted pebbles. An army of volunteers have been producing bees, butterflies, hedgehogs, owls, robins and the iconic badger, which is the logo of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
The Spring Fair takes place on Saturday 16th May from 9.30am to 12pm at St Peter’s Rooms, Ruddington, NG11 6HA.
