Ruddington Co-op embarks on £1m makeover

22/10/2019 by Digital Media

The Co-op is set to serve up a new-look food store in Ruddington with a £1m, nine week programme of works, designed to enhance the store and better serve the community. The Church Street Co-op which runs on 100% renewable electricity and supports 28 local jobs will re-launch on Thursday 31st October. The store which remains open throughout its refurbishment will include a Costa coffee dispenser and in-store bakery, alongside its focus on fresh, healthy foods, hot foods, meal ideas, award winning wines, and essentials.

Co-op also brings a funding boost locally though the Co-op’s Membership scheme. Members receive a 5% reward when they purchase own-brand products and services, with the Co-op giving a further 1% to local causes. In addition, Co-op offers a 10% discount off groceries to students holding the TOTUM card (the new name for the NUS Extra card) to support them during their studies.

Chris Bradbury, Co-op Store Manager, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment. We would like to thank our customers for their support during the works, and look forward to welcoming them into their new-look store when we re-launch with a great look and range.
“Our aim is for the store to operate at the heart of local life and make a difference in the community, it is all about delivering what our Members and customers want, need and care about, conveniently.

“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op, and that the Co-op gives back to its Members and the community. Our Members help us to make a difference locally, with Co-op donating money to local causes when shoppers swipe their Membership card when they shop with us.
“The investment is a great way to mark the Co-op’s 175th anniversary year!”

The Co-op was awarded the title of “Grocer of the Year” at the latest Grocer Gold Awards.
