Shoppers at Nottingham’s Victoria Centre are being invited to get their skates on this summer with the arrival of a new roller disco.
Following the success of previous experiences including the Ball Pit and Confetti Room, the Roller Room opens on 30 July and will be in the centre until 30th August.
The 10x19m rink will be situated on the lower mall between Boux Avenue and Monsoon/ Accessorize. Open daily from 11am, the experience will offer a mix of free skating and silent disco sessions, where skaters will be provided with headphones to switch-up their choice of music.
Sessions are free and skate hire is included, with visitors being advised to pre-book via the Victoria Centre website. Anyone booking a session will be invited to make a voluntary donation of £3, £5 or £10 to Victoria Centre’s chosen charity – Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough.
Commenting on the arrival of the Roller Room, Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said, “We know how much shoppers loved our previous summer family experiences and we were really disappointed not to be able to run one last year. So, for 2021, we are back with a bang in the form of our Roller Room.
“Roller-skating has become a huge trend again, with many people taking it up during lockdown, so we wanted to give visitors the chance to combine two great passions – shopping and skating.
“We’ve limited numbers so the rink will never be at full capacity and there will be plenty of space to showcase your skills. There are hand sanitiser stations on entry & exit to the unit, and kit is being thoroughly cleaned after every use.
“After a year of restrictions and lockdowns, it’s time to let your hair down, get your skates on and show us some of your very best moves!”
The Roller Room at Victoria Centre runs 30 July-30 August 2021 and is open 11am-6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 11am-7pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and 11am-5pm on Sundays. Slots of one hour (including getting your skates on) can be booked here.
