Year 6 pupils at Robert Miles Junior School in Bingham, enjoyed a break from the daily school routine and a chance to learn new skills during the schools annual trip to Dukes Barn.
The year was split into two groups for the residential to rural Derbyshire, with one set visiting between Monday and Wednesday and the other Wednesday and Friday. The children took part in a variety of activities including abseiling, kayaking and scaling the indoor climbing wall.
Mr Evelyn, headteacher at Robert Miles Juniors said: “The trip to Dukes Barn is a great opportunity for teachers to see the children in a different environment and enjoy watching them try new things. I had the pleasure of joining the children on Thursday and it was great to spend the morning kayaking with them – they all happily jumped in the water afterwards!”
Josh, aged 11, commented: “I had a great time and loved every minute. My favourite activity was definitely abseiling from the bridge!”
The journey back on Friday was almost as adventurous as the trip itself with the bus having to navigate the mid October heavy rain and flooding.
