Our Local News editor, Dani, was delighted to receive a roast dinner from Roasts2Go on a lazy Sunday at home at the end of August.
Roasts2Go, based in Cotgrave, is a new concept which was launched during the first lockdown in March 2020. The aim was to deliver delicious food to those vulnerable and isolating at home. However, the Roast dinner delivery service has gone from strength to strength and has quickly become a popular choice for a Sunday Roast at home.
The idea is to select one of two time slots, receive delivery, and either pop in the fridge for later or instantly reheat within the foil trays supplied for a fantastic Sunday roast. Homemade desserts are also available, and they even cater for Vegetarian and Gluten Free diners.
Our editor Dani chose two dinners, a vegetarian nut roast for herself and a standard traditional roast for her partner Mark.
Dani said, “The roasts arrived safely within my chosen timeslot from a lovely delivery driver.
“At dinner time, we took our ingredients out of the fridge and prepared them for reheating. We had been given some clear reheating instructions which told us how to prepare each element of reheating our roasts. The meals took no longer than 15 minutes to cook!
“The nut roast was accompanied by mash, roast potatoes, seasonal veg, a double portion of cauliflower cheese, stuffing, yorkshire puddings, and veggie gravy. The traditional roast had much of the same but contained beef, turkey, roast pork and a pig in blanket, plus the potatoes were beef dripping.
“Once reheated, roast smothered in gravy, we dug in. The nut roast was delicious, I’m not usually a huge fan of nut roasts but this one was fantastic. The potatoes were fluffy and the cauliflower cheese was incredible!.”
Mark said, “The portion was huge and everything tasted fresh. The meats were succulent and not too dry considering they were reheated. I was very full after!
Dani said, “We finished with full satisfied tummies, but still with enough leftovers for a roast sandwich the next day. For dessert we shared a chocolate fudge cake and a lemon cheesecake which came with cream. The desserts were amazing, especially the lemon cheesecake.
“Overall, I would order Roasts2Go again and would recommend it. They were easy to order, simple to reheat and tasty to eat!
