On Sunday 4th December, publisher Mark from the Local News travelled to the Theatre Royal Nottingham with his family to watch this years’ pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
With England playing football in the World Cup during the performance, my eldest son who is 10 was plotting how he could watch the match. However within 15 minutes he’d completely forgotten all about it and the whole family were in fits of giggles when Muddles (comedian Joe Pasquale) entered the stage!
Going to a local Pantomime is now a family tradition in our household and we all agreed (including Nana and Grandad!) that this one is the best one we’ve ever seen! From Faye Tozer playing a brilliant part as the Wicked Queen Lucretia to The Magnificent Seven with the energy and camaraderie between the cast was brilliant.
My two boys (ages 7 and 10) found it remarkable that Pantomime Dame, Mrs Nelly Nightnurse (played by David Robbins) could change their costumes so quickly. Their faces when Muddles arrives in a flying car during the night sky scene was one I won’t forget for a while! How did they do that?!?
Prince William of Nottingham (Jamal Kane Crawford) and Snow White (Lucy Ireland) both have incredible singing voices and had a presence that made you smile.
Obviously, the star of the show was Joe Pasquale and at various times had the entire crowd roaring with laughter. Both my boys have gone to school reciting his jokes to tell their friends in the playground!
From fabulous sets and costumes, this was a fantastic production from beginning to end and we can’t forget Orchestra, lead by Sarah Burrell who we were told and shown wears slippers whenever she performs!
All in all, it was a fantastic evening and would I recommend it to others? Oh yes I would!
At the end, my wife and I were on our feet singing old music classics (if I told you the songs, you’d know exactly how old we are!) The show has endless humour and fun throughout for all ages and is a perfect night out for everyone! Don’t miss it!
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be on at the Theatre Royal Nottingham from Saturday 3 December 2022 to Sunday 8 January 2023. For performance times and ticket details, please visit the website www.trch.co.uk
