Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is committed to supporting its town and village centres across the Borough, working closely with local ward members and Town and Parish Councils to develop enhancement plans.
This further support is a key part of the Council’s wider Economic Growth Strategy, which focuses on strengthening local economies and ensuring vibrant, attractive high streets.
Following improvement works in Bingham and Cotgrave in recent years, and with masterplans underway for Radcliffe on Trent and West Bridgford, RBC is continuing its focus on enhancing further areas across the Borough including in Keyworth.
RBC’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Business and Growth Cllr Abby Brennan has written to Ruddington Parish Council and East Leake Parish Council offering financial support to assist work with partners to create a vision for their retail centres.
Cllr Brennan said: “Supporting businesses is our top priority. Our small and medium sized businesses are a huge part of what makes Rushcliffe a fantastic place to live and work, and we will continue to support them, where we can, through the difficult times.
“We want to work with Town and Parish Councils, public sector partners such as the County Council, the East Midlands Mayor and Health bodies, businesses and residents to ensure our town and village centres thrive and remain inviting places for people to visit, to shop, spend time and enjoy themselves.
“I have therefore written to Ruddington and East Leake Parish Councils and RBC Ward members to invite them to consider developing strategic “masterplans” for their centres, identifying key areas for investment and improvement, and I am aware Keyworth Parish Council is already working on similar ambitious proposals for a ‘Keyworth Vision’ with Ward Councillors, which we are happy to discuss further with them.
“Businesses, in particular are struggling with the rise in costs and the wider national economic picture and so we will do what we can do support them in the economic hearts of our key communities, as well as providing wider business support across the whole Borough.”
