Brookside Primary School is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious SuperKind Social Impact Schools Award, recognising its outstanding commitment to social action and civic engagement.
To earn this national recognition, students at Brookside were challenged to achieve an average of one social action badge per student on SuperKind.org over the course of the academic year. Demonstrating exceptional dedication, Brookside pupils earned over 2,700 badges since September — a remarkable testament to their compassion, initiative, and drive to make a difference.
Through the SuperKind programme, students engaged in a wide range of meaningful activities, including writing letters, volunteering, raising awareness, donating to causes, and taking action aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These efforts have not only impacted communities locally and globally but have also empowered students to become thoughtful, proactive change-makers.
“We undertook the SuperKind journey because it’s never been more important to empower children to take initiative on causes they care about,’’ said Gary Kenny, Headteacher at Brookside Primary. “Through engaging with real-world issues, our children are developing essential life skills, boosting their well-being, and growing into confident, compassionate citizens who believe they can make a positive difference in the world’’.
One child, Maggie James, shared her experience: “Me and my friend organised a cake sale for Framework to help homeless people. What I have enjoyed about SuperKind is that I can choose to get involved with causes that I’m passionate about.”
Brookside’s achievement highlights the school’s commitment to
nurturing socially conscious young leaders who understand their power to create positive change in the world.
