Burton Joyce Parish Council has just signed a formal agreement to obtain the full £100,000 grant from the ‘FCC Communities Foundation’ towards their Community Garden Project.
Having now been out to tender and signed the agreement with the funders, the long-awaited project in the heart of the village can now officially begin. The grant will support:
- A canopy over hard standing, perfect for events, performances, and casual gatherings.
• Resin-bonded pathways providing full accessibility.
• Bench seating in circular and curved layouts.
• A discreet, low-impact lighting scheme.
• Soft landscaping with sensory and bee friendly planting.
• Additional features including an information noticeboard, a water feature, a way finder and ‘brass rubbing’ posts, as well as the three deer generously bequeathed to the Parish Council by the late Dorothy Pinkett.
In preparation for this exciting project to commence construction, the Parish Council’s grounds staff are busy undertaking initial clearance for when the contractors move on site in September Cllr Laurence King, Chair of the Parish Council says: “This project is the culmination of the desire and determination of villagers to create a welcoming and attractive ‘heart’ and amenity to the centre of Burton Joyce. Our thanks go to all who have contributed over a number of years to its creation. We look forward to its completion during the next few months.”
