Poppy Folk Club event

27/02/2020 by Digital Media

On Sunday March 22nd the Poppy Folk Club will host its annual Folk Day, with afternoon and evening concerts, a morning singaround, and a bar session in the early evening.

This year, the brilliant Faustus are the headline band in their evening concert. Faustus are a high-energy trio of big-name musicians: Paul Sartin (Bellowhead, Belshazzar’s Feast … violin, oboe, and gorgeous voice!); Benji Kirkpatrick (Bellowhead, Steeleye Span, Seth Lakeman Band … guitars, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo); and Saul Rose (Waterson-Carthy, Whapweasel … melodeon). A concert not to be missed! They will be supported by Nottingham duo and Poppy regulars, Jenny Bell and Wil Walker.

The early afternoon concert features Derby harmony trio ‘Stonesthrow’, bluegrass guitarist/singer Terry Maxwell, and a showcase of Poppy Folk Club regulars. The second afternoon concert is headlined by ‘Looma’ with their mix of folk, cajun and blues Looma will be supported by a rare solo performance by Phil Langran, harmonica wizz Jim Hellewell, and local duo Helen and Chris Morris.

The day starts with a free-of-charge morning (10:30am) singaround; and there’s a music session (also free!) in the bar before the evening concert!

Tickets are available for each concert separately, but you can save money if you are coming for the whole day.

All of this will take place at The Poppy and Pint, Lady Bay. Tickets and further details from juliet@poppyfolkclub.co.uk, 0115 923 1513, or visit www.poppyfolkclub.co.uk
