Oxjam Beeston Music Festival – this entirely volunteer led community event just goes from strength to strength!! Takeover Day on Saturday 19th October saw people heading to the town in droves to celebrate the best of local music in a carnival atmosphere, bringing the streets of Beeston alive once again.
The Oxjam Beeston team, headed by Heather Greenan, are hugely grateful to the 127 amazing artists and bands who all performed for free, a fantastic crew of enthusiastic volunteers who put in a few hours to make sure this phenomenal event ran to plan, not to mention dedicated sound engineers, 14 quality venues, Headline Sponsor The Star Inn as well as other generous sponsors, and most importantly all the festival goers from far and wide who make the event such a success. The legendary Beeston community spirit is alive and kicking!!!
All the funds raised go to the charity Oxfam, to make a difference to communities in urgent need around the world. Following this year’s Takeover, the total raised stood at over £25,000, largely from the main Takeover, but also an Operatic Arias evening and several private house concerts. With two more events that took place in late November where the final total is yet to come, an expected overall total of epic proportions!
