Over the Rainbow Parkinson’s Support Group

21/03/2022 by Digital Media

At the March meeting Estate Planner Practitioner Sam Passi gave a very interesting talk titled Tax, Care & the Other guy. His very sound advice on all 3 subjects was very helpful but Care was of particular interest to our members. They face the progressive problems caused by PD which can bring extra financial hazards and stresses. Sam explained how using Trusts can protect against Care Home fees swallowing almost the entire value of the family home. Lucky us – we are allowed to keep the final £23,250 of our estate – but they still take the pension!

He advised that Enduring Power of Attorney forms written and signed by 13th September 2007 are still valid.  The new system set up in 2007 offers 2 separate Lasting Powers of Attorney. One deals with Health & Welfare and the other deals with Financial affairs.

We are looking forward to a Half Day Physiotherapy Treat on April 26th.  This event will be a mini version of the Physiotherapy Weekend at the Nottingham Village Hotel in September. Group Physiotherapist Annabel Kingsbury will get us all moving during the Exercise session and then, after refreshments, will get us to unwind during a Relaxation session. Most of us will then have free time while Annabel gives advice to a few members before lunch at 1.00pm.

To learn more about this friendly, independent group please contact Michael & Sandra on 01636 812399 or email overtherainbowUK@gmail.com.

We meet from 11.00am – 1.00pm on the 2nd Saturday of the month at Southwell Town Bowls Club, Bishop’s Drive, Southwell, NG25 0GD. Just £1 per person and a plate of food towards the lunch.
