One more year of The Bookcase…

20/10/2025 by Digital Media

In September 2026 The Bookcase will be 30 years old so a lovely moment for us to celebrate the wonderful adventure we have had and for me to retire! Of course this has not been a decision made quickly or easily, but it is great that I have been able to make it on my own terms. The shop premises and our events rooms will go back to the landlord.

It is really important to me that you know how deeply grateful I am to you all for the incredible support you have given to me and my fantastic team over all these years. We have become personal friends with so many of you – it’s been an absolute privilege sharing our mutual love of books and creating a community around the shop and the events we have hosted.

I will send out more information as the final countdown approaches but for now going out on a high is the focus! I am in the process of planning lots of exciting events for the coming year, and we will of course finish with a big party at the shop on our last trading day –  Saturday 5th September 2026 – so please save that date if you can.

So now we have many more Tuesday Talks and Book Group sessions, Baby Group and Tales in the Teepee, one more Christmas, one more World Book Day, one more book festival…

We are really looking forward to sharing this final chapter with you all – we have all sorts of plans which we hope you will enjoy and we intend to make it a very happy year!

Please see our website for details of our Autumn events programme but in the meantime I want to say thank you for being the most wonderful community of booklovers – www.thebookcase.co.uk
