Now in its 141st year, the much-loved event continues to champion the very best of rural life in the county, and 2026 promises to be no exception. This year’s show will feature a special guest appearance from MasterChef finalist Claire Syrenne, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already packed programme.
The Newark-based cook who featured on the BBC’s popular cooking competition last year, is known for her approachable cooking style and passion for local ingredients.
Throughout the day, Claire will be sharing her enthusiasm for simple, confident cooking. From judging elements of the popular Make, Bake & Grow competition, to an interactive session designed to inspire home cooks of all abilities. Expect practical tips, inspiring flavour combinations and plenty of ideas to try at home – including creative ways to cook with the county’s famous Bramley apples.
Her message is one that will strike a chord with many: cooking doesn’t have to be complicated to be enjoyable. “My aim is to help people build confidence and enjoy food without feeling intimidated. You don’t need complicated recipes to cook well; sometimes it starts with something as simple as an apple,” she said.
Beyond the food, the show offers a full day out for families. The main ring will host the Knights of Nottingham, delivering a dramatic display of medieval horsemanship, while the new ‘Ask the Farmer’ feature gives visitors the chance to connect directly with local farmers and learn more about the journey from field to fork.
There will also be the ever-popular sheep show, a bustling Festival of Food, live music, competitions, trade stands and plenty of activities to keep children entertained throughout the day. It’s this blend of tradition and fresh ideas that continues to draw visitors from across the county.
Elizabeth Halsall, events manager, said the team were thrilled by the response to last year’s event. “People love coming here to enjoy great food, meet the farmers behind it, and spend time together at an event that feels truly authentic and rooted in Nottinghamshire,” she said.
With its mix of local flavour, entertainment and community connection, the Nottinghamshire County Show remains a highlight in the county’s calendar.
