Nottingham Street Aid is an initiative that provides an easy and effective way for the public to contribute essential funds to give constructive help to people who are homeless in the urban area of Nottingham. Members of the public can donate using QR codes or via contactless donation points around the city.
The first permanent contactless machine to be installed in West Bridgford has recently appeared in a large yellow box outside Central News and Cards on Central Avenue. This machine proved rather tricky to install, but with the help of the Simon Clough and his family who run the shop and Tim Fox, Vicar of St Paul’s church on Boundary Road (and secret electrician), the West Bridgford donation point went live on December 27th.
People living in West Bridgford can now tap a card on this donation point to donate £3 to the fund.
Charities around the city, such as the Friary in West Bridgford, can apply for this money to help their clients in any way they see fit. For the first time, this provides a pot of money that is entirely unrestricted to cover all and any costs to help someone away from a life rough sleeping.
