The Nottingham Clean Champions – Clifton East & West team continues to grow, with dedicated, caring volunteers helping to keep the area litter free. Last year over 1,600 bags were collected and this year to August just over 1,100!
The problem is not abating and more active volunteers are needed – one hour per month – just keep your own street clean and it all helps.
The monthly events are so much more than a litter pick. It’s a social opportunity as after refreshments, a place to sit and chat are enjoyed. The exercise in the activity helps to keep the body and mind healthy. It gives a great sense of satisfaction to see an area litter free and you will feel proud of your efforts.
Local businesses continue to support the team by cleaning up, providing free refreshments and most recently providing valuable “wooden batons” to help with carrying bags whilst they are
filled.

And it’s appreciated that local Cllrs Clarke, Jones, Rule, Spain and Watson also come out when they can too.
The local council green team confirm green areas that are due to be mowed (giving volunteers the opportunity to clear beforehand). Highways England provides dates too. This collaborative effort makes for a cleaner environment and happy volunteers!
