Nottingham charities create food parcels for families across the county

08/02/2021 by Digital Media

Sewa Day and Communities Working Together prepare food parcels to go out across Nottinghamshire for February half term.

Sewa Day Nottingham in Partnership with Communities Working Together are packing food parcels for 162 children which will be distributed to 70 Nottinghamshire families for February Half Term.

Children from families who are currently struggling may not get proper meals during half term, to help combat this each pack contains breakfast items, long life milk, tinned fruit and vegetables, pulses, soup, pasta, rice and two reusable face masks. Fresh fruit will also be added next week, when they are to be delivered by 11 volunteers.

The work was carried out by volunteers ranging from 11 to 60 years old and took most part of a day to complete. The food will go to homes across the city of Nottingham, including Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Gedling.

Hetvi Parekh, Sewa Day Nottingham Coordinator said “We are all really tired now, however it was such a satisfying day. Thank you to all our brilliant donors including Morrisons Gamston, Tiger Community Enterprise CIC for the face masks and bags, Fareshare, Fruit Basket, Bradbury’s of Ravenshead, Hindu Temple Nottingham for the space and the volunteers who made this possible, Team CWT, Team Sewa Day, Malti Maini, Rani Korpal and West Bridgford Community Helpers working together to make a massive impact in our local community”.

Team work truly does make the dream work.
