Plans for a brand-new play area at Abbey Park in West Bridgford and updated features for the park at Alford Road in Edwalton are now taking shape with a £140,000 investment into the facilities.
Work began at Abbey Park earlier this month and will completely replace existing equipment with a bespoke play area with 19 new items, suitable for a wider age range and incorporates natural play as well as tree planting on the site.
The development of Alford Road site begins later in February and includes the installation around a pirate theme of a new roundabout, zip-line and the refurbishment of current play equipment, ground works and resurfacing.
Children can have fun on the new walk the plank, climb the crow’s nest and treasure trail features.
A tender was awarded to Bradmore based playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd who have designed the parks’ updated features and work is expected to be complete in the coming weeks.
The authority’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Communities and Climate Change Cllr Abby Brennan said: “Community facilities such as these are so important to our residents and visitors, so we are delighted to be able to invest and update them.
“The re-development of Abbey Park sees more inclusive equipment introduced, suitable for a wider age range as well as natural play elements such as a wooden nature trail and balancing bars.
“The Alford Road play park sees further items included in the current pirate theme to captivate younger children including a spinning roundabout and periscope.”
