Plans for a brand-new play area at Adbolton Lane in Lady Bay in West Bridgford are now taking shape with a £80,000 investment into the facilities.
Work has now begun to replace the majority of existing equipment with a bespoke play area with 11 new items whilst refurbishing some existing features and retaining the accompanying grass play area for informal sport.
Children can have fun on the new wheelchair accessible see-saw, tortoise springer, hammock
swing, bongos, creepy crawly panels, flower tubes, raised stage area and roundabout features, delivered by Rushcliffe Borough Council.
The successful tender for the project was awarded to Bradmore based playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd who have designed the park’s updated features.
Works will take around four weeks and the Council took the opportunity with contractors’ availability to deliver the site now ahead of the main summer holiday period.
The authority’s Deputy Chief Executive and Director Neighbourhoods Dave Banks said: “Community facilities such as this are vital to our residents and visitors, so we are delighted to be able to invest and update them.
“We have placed an emphasis of keeping features where possible in line with our sustainability and carbon neutral objectives, allowing the Council to extend the life of perfectly good equipment whilst making investments go further.
“We strive to deliver high levels of inclusivity at all our sites and this is at the heart of our design processes with a focus on motor impairments and sensory stimulus, social play and interactions.”
