East Bridgford Cricket Club successfully created a junior section in 2022 with 12 members aged 9 & 10.
During the 2023 season we expanded the coaching to include younger age groups, increased junior membership to over 50, and entered a team in The Newark and District U11 League for the first time. The plans for the 2024 season are even more ambitious!
Our overall philosophy remains “to provide the opportunity for juniors from East Bridgford and surrounding area to learn and play cricket in a welcoming environment whilst at the same time providing a pathway for the most talented and ambitious to achieve their aims”.
New for this season:
Introductory Skills – Beginners (Reception age children only)
Games and drills to enable our youngest players to develop the skills they will need to play cricket (and other sports) while having fun!
Girls Only Softball Cricket (Years 3-6)
We want to encourage as many girls as possible to enjoy the great sport of cricket and although we have a good proportion of girls already integrated into mixed
groups throughout the club it is felt that having a “girls only” group will be the most popular way of expanding this area of the programme.
For the 2024 season the main coaching time will again be Friday evenings. There are groups for all age groups/standards from 5-15 Years. The bar will be open from early in the proceedings providing refreshments for children and parents!
The coaching programme now includes Team Training for our
New U15 “Friendly” Squad (Years 6-10) on Wednesday evening. This is open to beginners as well as more experienced players.
Numbers in the coaching groups will be limited to ensure that we continue to deliver the high standard that has produced the results we have had so far.
