Nick, the club coach said, “For our club this is quite a big change in our 99-year history. This will take our club in the new direction and benefit all our members of all ages, to enable them to play tennis all year round in the evenings.”
Musters Tennis Club began as a way to keep the local kids out of trouble. Back in 1923, the members of the West Bridgford Bowling Club, which first opened in 1904, agreed to build four grass courts on site so their children, young and not so young, could play tennis. Nearly 100 years on, and Musters Tennis Club is still a place where generations of families come to play bowls and tennis, and occasionally both.
During the last 100 years, there have been a few updates including all weather astro courts instead of grass and a newly refurbished clubhouse. The club also offers women’s, men’s and mixed tennis teams.
Musters Tennis Club would like to say a thank you to everyone involved and a very special thanks to Richard Hodgkins who has dramatically helped to grow the junior membership programme. In just one year, the numbers of juniors in the programme have gone from 15 to a whopping 96 members, with room for a few more.
Musters Tennis Club have a junior coaching programme that take place on the weekends for 4 – 16 year-olds. If you would like to enquire more about joining, please email: [email protected] or visit www.musterstennisclub.co.uk.
