Murals bring historic Nottingham to Retirement Village

08/02/2024 by Digital Media

Lark Hill Retirement Village welcomed mural artist, Sarah Hodgkins from Charlotte Designs to complete two murals at the location recently. Following Lark Hill’s impressive modernisation completed last year residents requested a mural of Nottingham landmarks on the walls. A resident fundraising group along with the village funded the project.

Resident volunteer Clive Moreledge found artist Sarah and researched which pictures to add to the walls. Both murals are of Nottingham Castle, but from quite different viewpoints.

The brief was colourful and Nottingham centric and the murals took four days to paint and varnish.

Sarah commented: “It has been an absolute pleasure to design and paint murals for Larkhill Retirement Village. The staff, residents and visitors have been so generous in their praise of my work and the difference it has made to the feel of this space is quite remarkable.”

Lifestyle Manager Maureen Proctor commented: “To see the process from start to finish was mind blowing. Sarah is extremely talented and has brought historical Nottingham to ExtraCare for all to see. I think visitors are going to love this as do the residents. It is already a talking point!”
