After a three-year break due to Covid, the Radcliffe Manor House Care Home held its annual Garden Party on 15 July. Many from the local community turned out to enjoy the event, together with residents and their relatives. The weather was relatively kind, although a large marquee and a number of smaller ‘refuges’ were set up in the extensive and well-kept gardens just in case of the predicted downpours.
During the afternoon, the cook served cream teas with fresh scones made on the premises. Some local businesses had stalls at the event and previous visitors to the Home returned for the Garden Party, including Mabel the therapy dog and a pony from ‘Pony Magic’ who gave rides throughout the afternoon.
The Manor House sponsors two local junior football teams and several members came along and set up a goal so that children (and some adults!) could attempt to score a penalty against the ‘professionals’ who were wearing their Manor House shirts. Participants received a lollipop for their efforts.
There was fun for all the family with a tombola of wine and water alongside a confectionery tombola. The raffle had some amazing prizes generously donated by local businesses and individuals.
Next year we hope to be back bigger and better!
