Nottingham Road remains closed from Clifton South Park and Ride to Gotham until 28th February.
The full stretch of this main route was closed in January for six weeks as part of ongoing work at a new £800m development.
The closure is to allow for a new junction to be built as part of neighbourhood development at Fairham on the outskirts of the Clifton area.
The £800m plan which will see 3,000 homes to be built will be brought forward in phases over a 10 to 15-year period.
As part of the first phase, groundworks began a few months ago to plan for road improvements in the area, which will begin with this new junction.
Diversions for motorists are via the A453 and marked by yellow diversion signs.
As part of the plans for what has been described as ‘one of the largest housing and employment developments in the East Midlands’, there could also be tram extensions, a primary school, community facilities and more than 200 acres of green space across the 606-acre site.
A public exhibition was arranged last November so locals could find out more details on the plans – some residents raised concerns about the potential increase in traffic.
