On a glorious day in June, Lowdham Colts FC held a presentation event where obstacles and games were played, food was eaten, and a fantastic raffle was drawn, raising funds for the club in the process.
This year’s event was organised by two teams; U13 boys (Coach Bart) and the U8’s. Looking back at how the U8’s began back in 2019 on the side-lines at Lowdham Colts Academy; Alan Levers watched his eldest son and 4 other boys begin their football journey under Barry Collins, cheering them on with great enthusiasm. It was this enthusiasm which later led to ‘Coach Alan’ taking on the team himself and growing it to 14 players within the year!
It became clear that it was time for another Coach and in steps another player’s dad ‘Coach Duncan’.
New players were impressed by the team’s morale and inclusivity, enabling the squad to grow to 21 boys! To allow all players enough opportunity to develop and adequate game time whilst playing 5aside, the coaches made the decision to create two teams and The Reds & The Blacks were formed!
Additional support was found from more supportive dads; Ash, Eddie, Wayne, and Steve, who continue to train and coach these teams to this day. As Barry once quoted “You learn the game by playing the game”.
Both the Reds and Blacks have had a phenomenal year, playing against one another, developing, and making long term friendships – the building blocks to secure their well-earned promotions as they enter 7aside.
This wouldn’t be possible without the support and encouragement from all parents and volunteers, who assist with coaching, training, cheering, sponsoring, and of course washing those all-important striped Red and Black kits!
Here’s to next season and next year’s bigger and better end of year event!
Thank you to our main sponsor Full Circle Parties who are based in Arnold.
