On Friday 3rd October, Tesco Toton and Beeston presented Round Hill Primary School with a cheque of £2,500.
The school had applied for a Stronger Starts Grant and in the summer Tesco customers were busy voting. Round Hill Primary School won the highest amount of £1,500, and because Tesco have been celebrating 30 years of Club Card and the school were one of 30 schools with the highest number of votes, they won a further £1,000. The grant is being used for new camping equipment for Year 2 children.
A Stronger Starts grant helps children thrive and have the best start in life. The grants can be used for schools and organisations with children up to the age of 16 years of age.
Adrian Nash, Head Teacher, of Round Hill Primary School said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that Round Hill Primary School has been chosen for the Tesco Stronger Starts grant. Thanks to the incredible support from our local community who voted instore, we’ll be able to replace our camping tents – giving our Year 2 children the unforgettable experience of camping right here on the school field.
“It’s a brilliant way to build confidence, independence and a love of the outdoors. We’re so grateful to Tesco and everyone who backed us.”
