Dovecote Parents and Staff Association are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund, where they are planning a project for a Forest learning area within the school grounds.
As you can imagine, the last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups like ours. The pandemic has drastically affected our fundraising efforts, so we’re grateful to have this partnership with the local Co-op.
We’re urging local members to choose us as their cause so we can deliver our project and help more people in Dovecote Primary School, Clifton.
We’re raising funds to create a Forest School area in our grounds that will benefit the pupils at the school now and in the future, plus children from the local area. Our project will support children’s physical and mental health, providing opportunities for hands-on lessons in the developed forest school area. During these sessions, children will develop an understanding of ecosystems, local nature and climate change and will have the ability to voice their opinions and thoughts about how to care for their surroundings, both in the school and in the wider community.
We hope by raising aspirations and inspiring children to dream of change, that social mobility will increase for the pupils at the school, as well as gaining valuable insight into environmental issues and developing good habits regarding recycling, native plants and climate change.
When members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 1p from every pound spent goes to support local causes like ours.
Co-op members can select us as their local cause by visiting https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/80326.
We really hope that people will visit the Co-op website or download the Co-op app and select us as their Local Community Fund cause so we can continue making a difference.
