Jenny Carey, a nurse of fifteen years from East Leake, has recently published a children’s book titled, Fun Poems for Your Child – Feeding Your Child’s Imagination.
Jenny works as a staff nurse at Leicester General Hospital. During her time as a student nurse, she began writing poems for every placement between 2002 – 2005. During these years her co-workers enjoyed her poetry which encouraged her to contact a publisher to discuss turning her work into books.
Her publisher encouraged her to aim her poetry away from the medical aspects and more towards poetry for children. After many years of consideration, Jenny began writing for children.
Her children’s poetry book contains poems to spark imagination, fun, curiosity and development. They are inspired by Jenny’s own joyful experiences of her childhood, including visits to the circus.
Jenny said, “I’ve received very good feedback from people who have bought my book so far. I ordered 50 books from my publisher, and they sold out within the first week.”
Fun Poems for Your Child is Jenny’s first book, but in future she hopes to produce more.
