Local Mum to take on the Great Wall of China for charity

24/10/2025 by Digital Media

Shamim Khan from West Bridgford is looking forward to taking on a challenge of a lifetime by walking The Great Wall of China.

Between Saturday 18th and Sunday 26th October 2025, Shamim and a team of others will be raising funds for Your Local Air Ambulance (Warwickshire & Northamptonshire/Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland).

She explained: “I’m inspired by the work of my local air ambulance. Many years ago, I witnessed a rescue whilst hiking and was amazed by this service.  But what I did not know was that the air ambulance service relies on charitable donations and is not part of the NHS.”

“I now work as a retail manager in one of the shops and I’m so inspired when I hear customers telling me how their loved ones are still with us due to the air ambulance service!”

“It is for these reasons that I want to fundraise towards saving more lives.”

Shamim is looking to raise a minimum of £3,345 and isn’t quite at her target goal. If you’d like to donate to this cause, please visit: https://events.theairambulanceservice.org.uk/fundraisers/ShamimKhan/great-wall-discovery-hems
