Local Labrador Charity saves Yoshi the pup

07/01/2020 by Digital Media

In 2013, Wendy Hopewell started up a charity called ‘Team Edward Labrador Rescue’, named after her own beloved pooch, the charity is a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers.

The charity is dedicated to re-homing Labradors and aims to promote humane behaviour towards the breed by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for those which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances of ill-usage. They aspire to give every dog in their care a second chance irrespective of age or illness.

At a couple of months old, young Labrador pup Yoshi, was discovered by on a ‘freesite’ in Luxembourg by Helen, a follower of the charity. She got in contact with Wendy at Team Edward Labrador Rescue in a desperate plea to help the dog. Helen took Yoshi in for a couple of months, just long enough for him to get a little bigger so he would be able to travel. Fully vaccinated and with his own passport, Yoshi was ready to travel to the UK to be cared for by the charity.

Wendy organised a couple of friends to collect Yoshi on the way back from a holiday in Spain and travel through the tunnel on Monday 6th January. A huge thanks to Helen for nursing and caring for Yoshi and getting in touch with Team Edward Labrador Rescue to ensure that he has a warm and safe future.

When dogs are placed on selling websites for free, they often fall victim to being in unloving and uncaring homes or worse, used in illegal dog fights.
