Local Dad sets up Nottingham Sands United Football Club

25/03/2023 by Digital Media

Sands United Football Club is a huge community across the UK, helping and supporting bereaved Dad’s who have suffered from any form of baby loss.

Following the loss of his own son Riaan in November 2020 aged just 7 months, local man Raj Chagger and his wife began a project called cRiaan Remembers’.

From their own experiences, they wanted to help break the silence around baby loss. Through this project, they helped raise around £30k for local hospitals and charities.

Following on from this, Raj felt there was very limited support for Dads experiencing baby loss and has recently set up Sands United Football Club in Nottingham.

Sands is a charity that helps support anyone affected by the death of a baby, with branches of Sands United FC all around the
UK.

Sands United FC is a unique way for dads and other bereaved family members to come together through a shared love of sport. It is a support group firstly, the football is secondary.

If you’d like to find out more about the club, please contact them on: Email: [email protected]. Instagram: @sandsunitedfcnottingham.
